Abstract

In the current context that we are inserted, discussing and promoting reflections on issues of religious cultural diversity is necessary to combat acts of prejudice and discrimination regarding religions. In this sense, this article aims to reflect on Religious Education as a curricular component that can contribute to the fight against religious intolerance in schools, through educational actions that promote respect for diversity and differences. Methodologically, this is a bibliographical study with explanatory delineation of concepts that contribute to the reflections on this teaching in schools in light of official documents such as LDB, BNCC and DCNs for undergraduate courses in Sciences of Religion. From this perspective, we believe, therefore, that it is the responsibility of Religious Education to increasingly overcome the gaps faced in schools in a non-denominational and non-proselytizing way, in which its methodological and pedagogical practices can include emerging themes that need to be discussed according to the religious cultural diversities that we find in the school context.
