I will take my Masters Course at University “X” because her diplomas have already been revalidated …

This argument is wrong and whoever sells a course with this premise is deceiving you student.

See the Federal Government’s Carolina Bori Portal FAQ

Question 22. I am taking a course abroad. How can I know if it will be revalidated / recognized in Brazil?

There is no list of foreign courses or universities whose degrees may or may not be revalidated / recognized in Brazil. The revalidating / recognizing higher education institutions have the autonomy to recognize or deny the recognition of a diploma, based on their own assessments.

Are my course or foreign University recognized by MEC?

Great myth, and as impressive as it is, many teachers ask this question claiming that the competing foreign HEI is recognized by the MEC. This is yet another way to deceive people.

Let’s see what the FAQ of the Federal Government’s Carolina Bori Platform says in question 23:

23. How can I find out if my foreign course is recognized by MEC?

R = MEC is not responsible for recognizing foreign courses or universities. It recognizes only Brazilian courses and universities. Foreign institutions of higher education and research must be legally recognized and constituted for this purpose in their countries of origin.

Master with access to PhD.

Such a course should take an average of 6 years, but many people come to us saying that they are doing a 2-year Master’s Degree and that with another 12 months (3 years) they will already leave as Doctors. This is yet another way to mislead students.

Let’s see what the Federal Government’s Carolina Bori Platform says about proposals like this:

31. I did a master’s degree lasting only 1 year. Can he be recognized? Is there a minimum workload?

As explained above, the master’s degree is a course that aims to provide students with a deeper knowledge that allows them to achieve a high standard of scientific or technical-professional competence. For the diploma of a foreign course to be recognized by a Brazilian university, it must present the same quality and result standards required for a Brazilian master’s course, recognized by CAPES. A master’s degree lasting only 1 year is unlikely to be recognized by a Brazilian higher education institution.

My Master’s or Doctorate has face-to-face classes in Brazil, will I be able to recognize it?

The answer is logical, no!

Let’s see what the Federal Government’s Carolina Bori Platform says on this subject:

3. Can revalidation or recognition be required for diplomas obtained in any country?

There is no restriction on countries that issue diplomas for revalidation or recognition. The restriction applies only to foreign institutions and courses that eventually practiced irregularities directly or indirectly in Brazil. The list of these institutions and courses will be transmitted to the Ministry of Education by revalidating and recognizing universities, as provided for in Article 18 of PN 22/2016 of MEC, and, when existing, will be made available on the Carolina Bori Portal.

Reflecting: “The restriction applies only to foreign institutions and courses that eventually practiced irregularities directly or indirectly in Brazil”.

Connect! Face-to-face Masters and Doctorates in Brazil taught by a foreign Institute or HEI is illegal!

Are there any exceptions?

R = Yes, in the case of technical-academic cooperation with Brazilian Universities that are under the jurisdiction of MEC / CAPES.
